Dependents
Dependent children
are eligible to be covered up to age 19. Upon their 19th birthday,
their coverage will be automatically terminated. However, if they
are a full-time student, their coverage can continue to age 25.
In order to keep them covered from age 19 up to age 25, you will
be required to verify their student status. This process is handled
by our medical insurance providers. Please familiarize yourself
with the process as explained below.
If you
are enrolled in any of the PPO options, the following will apply:
One month
prior to your dependent turning age 19, Blue Cross will send you
a student certification letter. There will be only a few questions
you will need to answer. Once done, you should promptly return
this letter to Blue Cross as indicated in the letter.
Blue Cross
will update their system and in turn, inform eFunds that your
dependent's student status has ben verified and we will reactivate
the child's coverage. If this letter is not returned to
Blue Cross, the child's coverage will remain terminated.
You should
then expect to receive a student certification request from Blue
Cross approximately every six months. Again, complete the letter
and promptly return it to Blue Cross. Failure to do so will result
in the termination of your child's coverage.
If you
enrolled in the HMO (Minnesota residents only), the following will
apply:
Three months
prior to your dependent turning age 19, HealthPartners will send
you a student certification letter. There will be only a few questions
you will need to answer. Once done, you should promptly return
this letter to HealthPartners as indicated in the letter.
HealthPartners
will update their system and in turn, inform eFunds that your
dependent's student status has ben verified and we will reactivate
the child's coverage. If this letter is not returned to HealthPartners,
the child's coverage will remain terminated.
You should
then expect to receive a student certification request from HealthPartners
annually. Again, complete the letter and promptly return it to
HealthPartners. Failure to do so will result in the termination
of your child's coverage.
Once a child
leaves school, graduates or reaches age 25, they are no longer eligible
for coverage under the eFunds' plan. It is your responsibility to
notify eFunds if your child becomes ineligible for coverage. At
that time, their benefits will be terminated and they will be offered
the opportunity to continue their coverage under COBRA. |
